COMMUNITY EDUCATION IN CPR AND FIRST AID
We provide various programs and trainings for health care providers, including BLS, ACLS, and PALS. We also offer Community Health Education in CPR and First Aid.
We are the Training Center for the American Heart Association, and the National Safety Council. Our courses are taught consistent with the curriculum and program requirements of these agencies.
Our center has over forty CPR instructors who teach throughout Mariposa, Oakhurst, Yosemite, Madera, Merced, and Atwater. Together they teach an average of 1,700 people per year (health care personnel, fire fighters and law enforcement personnel, and lay persons).
The community training courses we offer are:
BLS - Healthcare Providers Instructor-Led Training
The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both pre-hospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. This course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to preform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills.
4 Hours CEU's provided upon request for qualifying students.
BLS - Healthcare Providers Online-Blended Course:
Part I Online:
• Part I - Web-based and accessible 24 hours a day, provides a flexible alternative to classroom training. Through case-based scenarios, interactive activities and videos, this course teaches the concepts of both single-rescuer and team basic life support.
Part II and Part III Instructor Led:
• Part II - Practice Hands-on Skills
• Part III - Skills Testing
4 Hours CEU's provided upon request for qualifying students.
ACLS & PALS - Healthcare Provider Instructor-Led Training:
ACLS, or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, is a classroom course for healthcare providers that covers a number of invasive procedures, differs from Basic Life Support training in that it is designed for how advanced medical professionals should respond to patients who've just experienced cardiac arrest. The course also covers medical team dynamics and communication, according to the American Heart Association.
This course is designed for health care providers who oversee or manage cardiovascular emergencies. Emergency response or emergency medicine professionals may obtain such training as well as workers in intensive and critical care units.
PALS, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support, course is designed to provide pediatric healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children and help improve outcomes.
The course is aimed at professionals who must be credentialed as a requirement for doing their jobs.
Heartsaver and First Aid Courses:
Heartsaver CPR AED: Combines basic CPR skills training with instruction and practice in using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). It is designed for individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergence because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, and for others who wish to be credentialed in CPR and AED use.
Heartsaver First Aid: Provides training in basic first aid procedures including the first aid skills recommended by OSHA in a format that can be delivered in a single day. Ideal for anyone who has a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, and for other individuals who want or need first aid training.
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED: This course combines the curriculum of the Heartsaver First Aid course with the Heartsaver CPR AED course.
Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED: This course teaches child-care providers parents and grandparents, educators, and others critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. This course is recommended for State licensed in home childcare.
Family & Friends: The dynamic Family & Friends CPR course is designed to teach small or large groups of lay rescuers the basics of CPR. This course is practice-while-watching format to teach skill in CPR; AED use; and relief of choking in adults, children and infants. The Adult module offers a Hands Only CPR option.
This course is taught in a fast and affordable way - ideal for clubs, families, community and church groups.

Group courses can be scheduled for a guaranteed enrollment of a minimum of four attendees. Our CPR training center is located in our Home Health/Hospice/Education building, at 5008 Hwy 140, Mariposa.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS, and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an education course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association, and any fees charged do not represent income to the Association.
